Theseus Chan

WORK Founder and Creative Director
Singapore President’s Design Award Designer of the Year 2006(Inaugural)
Regarded as the godfather of Singapore’s Graphic Design, Theseus Chan is a transgressive graphic artist and printed matter designer with a keen interest in the visual arts, materials, printing and processing technology. His publication WERK Magazine has garnered international acclaim for pushing publication design. Theseus’s printed and graphic works have culminated in a long list of accolades that include being the first Singaporean designer to hold a solo exhibition at Tokyo’s Ginza Graphic Gallery(ggg). He is the founder and Creative Director of WORK, a creative consultancy that is a hybrid of an advertising agency.

Lim Sau Hoong

Former CEO and Executive Creative Director of 10AM Advertising Firm
Singapore President’s Design Award Designer of the Year 2007
Singapore’s Advertising guru Lim Sau Hoong was CEO and Executive Creative Director of 10AM, an advertising agency which garnered more than 300 international awards. Sau Hoong sat on the Planning Committee for the 2008 Beijing Olympics’ Opening Ceremony as visual advisor and headed the Shanghai World Expo 2010 Singapore Pavilion Advisory Panel from 2008 to 2010. Sau Hoong is currently the Vice-Chairperson of the 6th Singapore Note and Coin Advisory Committee, and currently an Independent Director of NTUC Fair Price, Ascendas REIT, and an Advisor to HyfluxShop Ltd.

Nathan Yong

Founder of Nathan Yong Design and Co-founder of GRAFUNKT
Singapore President’s Design Award Designer of the Year 2008
Furniture Designer Nathan Yong’s relentless pursuit of simplicity and honesty in design has garnered him numerous awards both locally and at the international level, for instance the Red Dot Award. In the 2011 International King size supplement, INTERNI for Salone del Mobile, Nathan Yong was selected as the most promising Young Designers on the international scene. Currently based in Singapore, Nathan runs a multi-disciplinary design consultancy practice. His work spans across industrial, graphics, interior, and architectural-design, branding, and product development. He is the founder of FOLKS FURNITURE, a furniture brand that produces modern contemporary wooden furniture, and the co-founder of GRAFUNKT, a retail based company that specialize in contemporary furniture.

Mark Wee

DesignSingapore Council (Dsg) Executive Director
Mark Wee is currently the Executive Director of DesignSingapore Council, the national agency overseeing design for the country. He is also the founder and principal of ANNEX A /, a design innovation and architecture studio, and an Adjunct Lecturer in Digital Service Design and Innovation at the National University of Singapore’s Institute of System Science. He has also represented Singapore at the 11th Venice Architectural Biennale.

Ng Kok Wan

IPOS
Assistant Chief Executive, Registries
Mr Ng Kok Wan was responsible for the establishment and development of Singapore’s indigenous patent search and examination capability, and built the IPOS S&E Unit into an International Searching & Preliminary Examining Authority (ISA)/(IPEA) in record time. Under his leadership as Executive Director for IPOS-International from Apr 2015 to Apr 2017, Kok Wan was also instrumental in building a patent analytics and technology foresighting capability for Singapore. He now drives efforts to transform the Registries – the IP regulatory arm of IPOS – to facilitate innovation in Singapore businesses.

Lim Fong Wei

Design Writer and Co-chairperson of the Awards
Fong Wei is Lianhe Zaobao’s veteran design writer. He has created the original story and screenplay of “3688”(想入飛飛, 2015), the widely acclaimed feature-length film directed by Royston Tan. He is also a 2017 Golden Point Award winner for Short Story category. He has been awarded the Lee Kong Chian Research Fellowships by National Library Board to do research on Lau Yee Cheung, a renowned Hong Kong novelist.
